Amish Cinnamon Sugar Coffee Cake Recipe

A moist and flavorful coffee cake with a delicious cinnamon sugar swirl, perfect for breakfast or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter.
  9. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar layer and spread evenly.
  10. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture on top of the cake.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a teaspoon of almond extract to the batter.
  • This cake can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Serve warm with a drizzle of icing for added sweetness.
